Ahok Inaugurated Gus Dur Statue in Amir Hamzah Park

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama inaugurated an Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) Statue in Amir Hamzah Park, Menteng Central Jakarta, Saturday (4/25). The location was chosen because it often used by young Gus Dur to play football and near from his grandfather house, KH Hasyim Asyari.

Ahok told, the existence of the statue is very inspiring. He also asked the children should have ideals and emulate Gus Dur figure. Situ Lembang Park Poorly Maintained

He also appreciated the Komodo Dragon Foundation which has built the statue of 4th Indonesian President. "When Gus Dur was a child, also the same with other children, he loved to play football, climbing trees. But behind it all, he is a figure who very diligent reading book. We hope the children want to learn like him," he told.

Yenny Wahid, Gus Dur's second daughter said, his father's statue which looks reading a book is intended to support the children to grow into an adult human as Gus Dur.

"My father figure is a foundation to build the nation character in the future. He is a smart figure and love peace," he uttered.
